Posted: 23 Aug 2011 03:53 AM PDT Allan studied with two very fine artists, Richard F. Lack and R H Ives Gammell. The early years were spent working from nature and carefully studying the Masters which entailed copies from original masterpieces. The painting process became more a search for finding a way of seeing nature than simply recording nature.

Michael Parkes | Paintings and drawings Posted: 23 Aug 2011 02:51 AM PDT Dante
More.... Continua...... Michael Parkes, 1944, is American. He studied graphic art and painting at the University of Kansas and then travelled for three years throughout Asia and Europe. In 1975 he settled definitively in Spain, where he still lives. Numerous international exhibitions underline the importance of Parkes’ work. What is unusual about Parkes is that in his paintings and lithographs, metaphysical and spiritual elements are joined to reality. His work evokes a mysterious atmosphere which can often only be deciphered with the help of ancient mythology and eastern philosophy. Beatrice

Istvan Sàndorfi 1948 - 2007 | Budapest Posted: 22 Aug 2011 07:17 PM PDT Istvan (known as Etienne) Sandorfi was born in Budapest in 1948 and died in 2007. His father was director of the American company, IBM, in Hungary. Because of this association he served five years in Stalinist prisons during the Communist regime and his family was deported to an isolated Hungarian village. At the time of the 1956 uprising the Sandorfi family fled the country and became expatriates, first in Germany, then in France. Greatly affected by the violence of the revolution and by the aberration of political systems in general, Istvan took refuge in drawing, and then, at the age of 12, in oil painting.
