Posted: 24 Jul 2011 03:34 AM PDT Andrei Tsoy, born 9 April 1971 in Murmansk, northern Russia. He is the son of a korean father and ukranian mother. From 1986 until 1990 Tsoy attended the Dnipropetrovsk art school, before moving to the prestigious Ukranian National Academy of Fine Arts where he completed his undergraduate education in 1997. In 1993 the young Tsoy held is first solo exhibition at the Tychyna museum. While earning his BFA Tsoy spent over one year abroad in Spain between 1993 and 1994 at the University of Granada where he was invited to study under professor Storozhenko who held an annual workshop for young artists who were being recognized in european universities and vocational institutes. While in Spain Tsoy was heavily influenced by artistic movements form the second half of the twentieth century, often making excursions to the national and public galleries where studied modern art, from Dali to Picasso.
